Wine Tasting Class: Wines of Piedmonte

 

Event: Piedmont is home to six major grape varieties known world-wide. This class gives an in-depth overview of the most important wines here in Piedmonte with a tasting & examination of each wine: Arneis, Dolcetto, Barbera and Nebbiolo, Barolo and Barberesco.

Wine Tasting Class: Taste Like A Pro, Red Wine Edition

 

Event: This wine tasting class gives you a chance to smell classic fruits, spices and flowers of the “classic” red varieties in a neutral base wine. Then, you’ll try to “find” these same characteristics in an actual bottle of that particular grape variety.

WSET Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits

 

Event: The WSET Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits Wine Education Class provides vocational training in the broad range of alcoholic beverages to underpin job skills and competencies in the customer service and sales functions of the hospitality, retail and wholesale industries. WSET Level 2 Certification Course meets for a total of 16 hours and is followed by an exam for certification. Learn more about WSET certification here.

Event: The WSET Level 3 Award in Wines and Spirits Wine Education Class is designed to give a thorough understanding of the principal wines and spirits of the world and their commercial importance in the world’s market. The wine classes will assist those who are required to make professional evaluations of wines and spirits with regards to their quality and commercial value.

Society of Wine Educator: Certified Specialist in Wine (CSW) Day Class

 

Event: The Certified Specialist of Wine certification has become one of the most important trade credentials in the wine industry today. The CSW Classes meet 5 times, 3 hours per class. Earn your certification by passing a 100 multiple-choice question examination within a 60-minute time frame.
Date: Mondays, March 10, 17, 24, and 31, 2014 (classes) and Monday, April 14, 2014 (exam)

Wine + Art: “Lives of Leisure: The Impressionists & Loire Valley Wines”

 

Event: Each program, held at the Museum of Fine Art Houston, begins with a brief presentation about great French art, then transforms into a lively, interactive tasting of six great French wines led by Houston-based, nationally recognized wine educator James King.
